Holding

NO
Many people misunderstand the concept of holding a positive focus. They believe that they must hold their attention on one specific item for an extended period of time. For example, pink elephant, pink elephant, pink elephant, pink elephant, etc.
This is not what we are suggesting. In fact, this may be impossible for most people- even the most practiced of meditators.
Holding your focus on one thing for an extended period of time can be quite challenging. Next time you're at an airport, look at your watch and then look directly at an airplane taking off. Try and watch it until it fades into apparent nothingness. Notice when you quit tracking the plane and make note of the time. It is an eye opening experience. (And this is with something visual to focus upon!)
YES
We are suggesting that you hold your focus on a particular topic while maintaining a good feeling by starting with one idea, adding detail to it until it begins to fade and then replacing it with another equally good feeling idea about the same subject.
For example, pink elephant, Indian elephant, big floppy elephant ears, elephant trunk spouting water, elephant eating yummy peanuts, etc. (You get the idea.)
When you hold your attention on an idea or a group of related ideas for as little as 17 seconds, you begin to attract more like ideas. If you can continue to hold the focus in the way that we have just described for as little as 68 seconds, you will actually begin to align with that idea. (For more on this concept, see the Abraham-Hicks web site link Thank You. If you've never visited the Abraham-Hicks web site, please do so. It will enrich your life immensely.)
If you intentionally hold a positive focus whenever you think of it or whenever your mind drifts toward something unwanted, you'll keep your focus on the right track or return to a good feeling state almost instantly.
An Interesting Observation
I used to think that my most creative feeling state was one of joy and enthusiasm. As a result, I would focus on my desire at the same time that I called forth a high level of joy and enthusiasm and then let the feeling state grow or celebrate my desire from this place of exuberant elation.
Interestingly enough, after paying very close attention to my manifestations and the speed at which they come into being, I have come to learn that my most creative feeling state is softer than joy and enthusiasm. It is more of a feeling of love and appreciation. It is the feeling state I experience when I hold my children or simply imagine holding them in my arms.
It would be fun to see what works best for you. What feeling state is most creative for you?
