It all begins with appreciation.
Practicing the Fine Art of AppreciationThe fastest and easiest way to jump start the creation of the feeling state you desire is to come to peace with “what is” and begin to appreciate anything you like about “what is”.
At first, some find this idea unpalatable. If you are at peace and love “what is” about your current feelings, where is the impetus to move toward something new? The answer lies in the Law of Attraction and the two basic rules that describe it.
BASIC LAWS OF ATTRACTIONWhat you resist persists.
What you focus on flourishes.
What you resist persists.
Change is inevitable. No matter how it seems, things change. When you resist “what is”, it persists. Although it appears that things are remaining the same, in actuality, you are creating “what is” over and over again.
Making Peace with “What Is”
Like releasing a parking brake before you drive, making peace with “what is” frees up a tremendous amount of stored energy by releasing resistance. Making peace allows you to begin moving in the direction of your heart’s desire.

In the words of Abraham, “I am where I am and that’s OK.” The sooner you make peace, the sooner you will be on the road to the feeling state you desire.
Make Peace
Make peace with “what is” by simply allowing it to be OK that you are where you are today. You intend to move toward something different but today you are where you are and that's OK.
Remember this quote that was quite popular some years back?
"Today is the first day of the rest of your life."
Start Anew Today
Start anew today. Today is a beautiful starting point- a launching pad for tomorrow. Make peace with "what is" today so that you may begin to move easily in the direction of your heart's desire.
Making Peace with Your Feeling State
"I am feeling angry today. I am where I am and that's OK."
"I feel a little hopeless right now. I am where I am and that's OK."
What You Focus on Flourishes
When you first make peace and then begin to focus on the wonderful things found in “what is”, you get more of those wonderful things.
Appreciation leads to creation.
Appreciate to Create
When you begin to notice and appreciate those things that you love, they flourish and grow. Even in the most awkward of situations, you are resourceful enough to find something to appreciate. Start with one thing. Then find another and another. Allow the gratitude to grow.
With each appreciation, you will notice the momentum build. It will become easier and easier and easier.
Start by simply finding one thing that you appreciate about “what is”. It doesn't have to be an earth shattering revelation. It can be something small or even somewhat trivial. Just start wherever you are. It will get easier; I promise.
If you want to create a better feeling, simply find one thing- anything that you can appreciate- about your current experience. "I love the way my body lets me know how I feel in each and every moment."
Allow the Gratitude to Expand
Allow the gratitude to expand by noticing all of the things that you love about “what is”.
If you want to create a better feeling, notice all of the things that you appreciate about your current experience. “I love my car. It takes me where I want to go. I love the way traffic seems to flow no matter how many cars are on the road. I love the fact that we live in a day and age where we have cars that may take us safely and rapidly to where we want to go. Etc."

There is a very beautiful and simple ritual for making peace with "what is" and practicing the art of appreciation. Using a string and beads, you create a bracelet (or even a necklace) that represents the gratitude you have for your feeling state and/or all the things you can find to appreciate about your experience. Let each bead represent something that you appreciate. String one bead at a time and express your appreciation as you do so. Wear the bracelet (or necklace) as a tangible reminder of all the ways that you appreciate your life and your experiences.
